McCain or Obama...that is the question

Has anyone else out there changed political parties several times over the last two years? I realize I can be indecisive at times, but this race has been surprisingly difficult for me in a couple different ways. 1. Sometimes I am challenged to choose my candidate because I don't like either option (Like when I thought it was going to end up Hillary vs McCain) and 2. sometimes I have positive feelings about what both sides have to offer: Obama and Pallin.

Recently I've been an Obama girl. Sorry, but I can't deny getting caught up in the whole I have a dream stuff and the passionate speeches about a new start and new opportunities. I mean, it is historical - and long overdue to have a black man in office.

Then he picked Biden. I don't care for Biden. I don't not care for him either. I just don't care and he's just another boring white man in a suit that Obama chose to play it safe and get some experience on his side. Boo.

On the other hand, I figured if McCain chose Romney I could seriously get behind that ticket and some economic know-how in the white house. When I first heard Sara Pallin...well I thought...Done. Don't know her, he's just picking a woman for the sake of picking a woman, it's not Romney - Game over.

BUT...then I started learning about her and reading about her and suddenly she's getting me excited. The idea of an outsider with Executive (even limited) experience is cool. And she's way more of a change agent and a renegade than Obama. She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere, she outed all the dirty politicians in Alaska, she fired the chef as soon as she took office because "I'm not going to be governor forever and I don't want my kids to expect a chef all their lives." She played basketball and was known as Sarah Baracuda, she's tough, bright and a go-getter. But she's not a Hillary kind of femi-nazi woman--she has 5 kids, one with Downs syndrome and they're not perfect and she cares equally about family and her work life. In a nut-shell, she's very likable.

So I'm back to ground zero. I really can't make up my mind and choose yet. But I do know this - - I'm thrilled that no matter which way the election goes, new ground will be broken and that my friends, is CHANGE.

Thoughts?

this election just got very, VERY exciting for me. And it's all because of Palin. :) I like that she's a strong woman without the pantsuits. ;) I'm still struggling with whether or not I should write in the candidate I wish was running and throw my vote away, but I was leaning towards obama for the last few months, only because I didn't like either choice and why not vote and be a part of history? But I have done some reading on Obama and I'm not too pleased with what I've read (outside of his insane economic plan). I wanted to like him, so that I could vote for him, but I just can't and that's why i'm very, very much swayed towards McCain now that Palin is on the ticket. But again there are still 2 months until election so anything is possible! It's true, it's very, VERY exciting.

P.S. so sad Michigan lost! P.P.S fantastic photos, I agree with Mary - start a business. I mean what else do you have going on right now? jk ;)

Palin seems to be my kind of feminist and from the little I know about her I really like her. I'm also encouraged by the turning over of Anbar to Iraqi forces this week thanks to the surge... and then there's the economy. Obama's coming out pretty hard in his pitches against business and I think that will negatively affect everyone who doesn't want to depend on some form of government aid – which from unemployment to health care to education seems to be his solution. And Biden? Gag. Okay, I'll stop!

Well, if it's between the Vice President on one ticket and the President on the other, shouldn't you go with the President?

BTW, 95% of the population make under 250k, and will be receiving tax cuts with Obama and I'm pretty sure most of them don't receive government aid.

I agree with Kristin - vote for the president not the VP. I'm definitely an Obama supporter! Also, I haven't been too impressed with Palin so far. I see some positive things about her, but more negative (in my opinion).

Yes, the Pres is the more important factor but I give credit to McCain for his unusual selection of Palin ...as well as for his standing up to popular opinion to bring us closer to leaving Iraq in less of a mess. Both Obama and Biden said the surge wouldn't make a difference and it seems they were wrong. Whether you think we should be there or not, we are there and critical decisions going forward will fall to the next President. Not to mention that I'm not comfortable with relinquishing US interests to the United Nations security council on crucial international issues (i.e. Putin & Georgia) as Obama has put forward. On the economy, individual tax cuts will amount to very little if payroll and employer taxes go up and further slow business growth and the availability of high-paying jobs. When I said "government aid" I didn't mean welfare or personal incomes but programs like government-run health care, huge housing bailouts etc. that could only be implemented with higher general and business taxes. I don't believe personal taxes can go down for long while funding such huge federal programs either, but will buy that his intentions on that point are good.

Sorry Shar, but I couldn't disagree with you (and most of your bloggers) more about Palin. If something happens with McCain (and lets keep it real he is pretty old) I would want someone smarter, better and more wordly...this isn't a PTA race, it is a presidential race people. Lastly, I want a presidential party that is smarter than me and most Americans and not who I just like better.

Ground zero...I wondered who the swing voters were...it's YOU!

Keep it coming mama, I love getting the other sides from more than just FOX news...lol.

I recommend writing in someone you fully support. You don't have to vote for either Obama or McCain!
